Nigeria will hit 500,000MT cocoa production by 2024, says farmers — Features — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

At the current price of over N500,000 per ton, the market value of cocoa produced within this region is in excess of N75,000,000.00 annually. This would have helped with boosting the Local government revenue through both sales tax and income taxes from the multiplier effect of these products on our local economy. Unfortunately, over forty percent of these produce is lost to decay due to inaccessible roads to the cocoa plantations and lack of storage facilities available to the Cocoa famers.

We kindly plead with Government to come to our rescue as our Cocoa farmers are experiencing dwindling fortunes due to these problems. This area also produces other farm products like cassava and vegetables in Tons. This road from Amawom to Nkalunta was last tarred by H.E. Dr Micheal Okpara of blessed memory during his Agrarian revolution.
